Who We Are
In 2018, Karen Boykin-Towns founded Encore Strategies, to focus on integrating business and public affairs initiatives. She is a distinguished strategist who has forged a reputation as a global business and civic leader. She has spent her entire career at the cutting edge of policy, advocacy, communication, and change management.
She has contributed her expertise professionally across government, the nonprofit world, and a Fortune 50 global biopharmaceutical company, while also championing civil rights and social justice organizations.
Currently, she serves as Senior Advisor at FGS Global, focused on the stakeholder economy combining deep expertise with global reach.
During her 22-year tenure at Pfizer, she held senior executive positions in public affairs, government relations, global policy, and human resources. She was selected by Pfizer's CEO to serve as its first Chief Diversity Officer. In this role, she developed and implemented an integrated, global strategy that elevated diversity and inclusion as a competitive advantage for the company. Her last position for Pfizer was Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Pfizer's $34 billion innovative medicines business.
Karen serves as Vice Chairman and member of the National Board of Directors of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She is also a board member of iFIT, the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY). Previous board service includes Brewster Academy, American Airlines Community Council, L'Oréal USA Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board, and the Business Council of New York State.
